October 12, 2004 Health Department Makes Tetanus/Diptheria Vaccine Available to Terrebonne Parish Residents

- In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Matthew, many residents and disaster relief workers from Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes and the surrounding area have been working in conditions that could put them at risk for potentially dangerous wound infections.

The Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health Region 3 (Houma/Thibodaux area) is making the Tetanus/diphtheria booster vaccine available to residents of this area on Wednesday, Oct. 13 and October 14, 2004.

The tetanus booster is recommended for the following groups:

Anyone who has not had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years
People who suffered puncture wounds during storm cleanup and have not had the vaccine in five years
The Office of Public Health will be issuing Tetanus/Diptheria shots at the following locations:

No appointment is necessary. Residents must meet certain criteria and should bring with them their latest vaccination records.
