About Taking Aim at Cancer in Louisiana
Taking Aim at Cancer in Louisiana is a state-wide initiative that brings together leaders across sectors in healthcare, business, government, community, advocacy, philanthropy and other sectors to work toward the common goal of improving cancer outcomes in Louisiana. Strategic efforts are taking shape with partners across the state to increase access to care, improve quality of care, and reduce costs in order to increase survivorship.
United Health Foundation provided a $500,000 grant to the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) to develop a coordinated strategy to improve cancer care and outcomes for the people of Louisiana that has evolved into Taking Aim at Cancer in Louisiana. The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is currently providing leadership support. LDH and LCRC, are nearing the end of the current grant period and will be transferring the Taking Aim at Cancer initiative into a 501(c)(3) corporation that is being formed by the Louisiana State University Healthcare Foundation. This will allow the initiative to grow as a collaboration among various payers, service providers, and stakeholders and allow for unified, statewide efforts.
