July 17, 2020 Office of Public Health's Dr. Martha Whyte featured in LDH Blog Q&A series
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, - Dr. Martha Whyte recently shared her insights and experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic in the "Q&A with the RMDs" series on the LDH Blog.
"In our region, it remains a challenge to really understand the current situation — that the virus is still around and it is still dangerous," Dr. Whyte writes. "How do we get people to act on this information and do the right thing when they are so anxious to get out of the house and resume their normal activities?"
Dr. Whyte is the regional medical director for Region 7, which includes the parishes of Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine and Webster.
Louisiana’s nine regional medical directors (RMDs) oversee the parish health units that serve the daily public health needs of their communities. The RMDs are in constant contact with state health leadership and local leaders to help guide residents through the COVID-19 public health emergency, particularly among key demographics.
