July 31, 2023 Members can use their SSN to manage their online account

- Effective July 22, Louisiana Medicaid members can use their Social Security Number (SSN) to set up an online account to manage their coverage through Medicaid’s self-service portal (SSP) at MyMedicaid.la.gov. Members can use the SSP to apply for and renew coverage, and make updates to their account information.

Previously, Medicaid members and community partners assisting members could only access and link case information in the SSP by using a Medicaid Card Control Number (CCN) or Medicare number. Now, the head of household/primary contacts can link member case information with their full SSN, CCN or Medicare number.

Under “Case Linking Information” in the SSP, members will be able to enter their last name, date of birth, and full nine-digit SSN for the head of household on a case to successfully link their accounts. Upon successful linking of their cases, the individual will be able to update their contact information, check benefits, order a new Medicaid card and complete their renewal, as well as many other things.  For resources on how to use the SSP, including setting up an account and renewing your Medicaid, go to https://ldh.la.gov/page/2477.
