Baton Rouge – As safe water supply and electricity have been restored to many of the areas affected by the recent hurricanes, many residents are returning to live in their homes. However, as they repopulate the area, many are encountering mold growth in their residences. The Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health wishes to offer citizens some basic guidelines for safe mold cleanup and removal.
Baton Rouge --- Children across Louisiana are making plans for creating the perfect costume and mapping out which houses to stop at for the best Halloween treats. In this midst of these trick-or-treating preparations, state health officials remind parents to help their children incorporate safety into their Halloween activities.
Baton Rouge –The Calcasieu Parish Health Unit in Lake Charles will be providing Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition services to those clients who have appointments on Friday, October 21, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Clients are being asked to keep their appointed times.
At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1035 bodies. This is an increase from 1,025 recovered bodies reported on Oct. 12, 2005.

Baton Rouge – The Department of Health and Hospitals’ Office of Public Health, Sanitarian Services staff will continue to inspect food establishments in Orleans Parish, allowing those that are approved to resume operations and serve customers.
Baton Rouge – Although the Department of Health and Hospitals today reports 30 new cases of West Nile virus, the recent hurricanes do not appear to have increased the disease in Louisiana, as some had feared.
At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1021 bodies. This is an increase from 1,003 recovered bodies on Oct. 7, 2005.
