The Office of Public Health Region 2 will hold a community COVID vaccination clinic on Thursday, February 4 at the Southern University F.G. Clark Activity Center, 801 Harding Blvd., Baton Rouge 70807. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and appointments are required to receive a vaccination.
The Louisiana Department of Health today confirms the state will join the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, an effort to increase very limited supply to states and make vaccines more accessible. Nationwide, the program expands the number of pharmacies that will administer vaccines.
These providers - including 143 chain pharmacies, 118 independent pharmacies, 55 hospitals, 28 community health centers (including 23 federally qualified health centers, or FQHCs), 7 rural health clinics (RHCs) and an additional 55 healthcare sites - represent all nine public health regions and 64 parishes of the state.

Today, Governor John Bel Edwards announced the launch of COVID Defense, Louisiana's exposure notification mobile application for iPhone, Google and Android phones to slow the spread of COVID-19.
Those eligible to volunteer include retired physicians and osteopaths, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, and physician's assistants. Volunteers will help provide vaccines when they become more widely available to the public in late spring or summer.
