This Mother's Day, LDH celebrates improvements in lowering cesarean delivery rate, breastfeeding program improvements
This Mother's Day, the Louisiana Department of Health is proud to announce the statewide cesarean delivery rate among the vast majority of Louisiana hospitals in 2021 fell to 28.5%, from 33%, in large part thanks to the work of Louisiana hospitals participating in the Department's Safe Births Initiative.

LDH Northshore regional medical director, staff honored by Louisiana National Guard
Dr. Gina Lagarde was recognized for her work in coordinating the Region 9 COVID-19 response over the past two years during a recent ceremony. Dr. Lagarde is responsible for overall daily public health needs in Region 9, which encompasses Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes.
