Today, the Pediatria Healthcare for Kids in Baton Rouge announced it would close its facility on Airline Highway after its provisional license expired. The clinic serves 23 patients, who are all being helped by the Louisiana Department of Health to find alternative care providers.
The Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative, made up of 31 birthing facilities from around the state, met in Lafayette earlier this month for the second learning session of the Reducing Maternal Morbidity initiative. This work is aimed at reducing severe medical complications from bleeding or severely elevated blood pressure during and after the birth process. These complications, known as maternal morbidity, are unexpected outcomes of labor and delivery that result in short- or long-term consequences to a woman's health.

Continues the provisions of the October 11, 2018 Emergency Rule which amended the provisions governing reimbursement for intermediate care facilities for individuals (ICFs/IID) with intellectual disabilities in order to extend the period of transitional rates for two additional years and revised the Rule language to align with the language currently used in the approved Medicaid State Plan Amendment governing ICFs/IID.
Amends the provisions governing reimbursement in the Pharmacy Benefits Management Program in order to change the pharmacy ingredient cost reimbursement methodology from average acquisition cost to the national average drug acquisition cost.
Amends the provisions governing the licensing of hospital crisis receiving centers in order to adopt provisions to allow free-standing psychiatric hospitals which do not have dedicated emergency departments (EDs) to designate crisis receiving center-specialty units (CRC-SUs) as EDs for patients in need of psychiatric crisis treatment, if the CRC-SU meets all of the same regulations as a hospital ED.
