RFP# 3000011177 The Louisiana Department of Health, Office of Public Health, STD/HIV Program, is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for qualified proposers to provide management, coordination, technical assistance and training, and data management and analysis activities that support different components of the Bureau of Infectious Diseases.

Amends the provisions governing the licensing of nursing facilities to adopt provisions governing virtual visitation to provide for consent, by a nursing facility resident or a legal representative, relative to the authorization for installation and use of a monitoring device in the room of the resident in compliance with Act 596 of the 2018 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature..
Adopts a reimbursement methodology for a nursing facility that is operated by an entity that has a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) with Louisiana State University (LSU) to conduct a geriatric nursing facility training program at the location of the current John J. Hainkel, Jr. Home and Rehabilitation Center, or any other location approved by the parties and the department.
Amends the provisions governing the programmatic allocation of waiver opportunities in the Community Choices Waiver in order to give priority to individuals not receiving any other Medicaid home and community-based service.
Taking Aim at Cancer in Louisiana (TACL), an organization formed last year to address Louisiana’s high rates of cancer, reached a milestone last month when its executive committee adopted bylaws and elected officers to establish TACL (pronounced ‘tackle’) as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The Louisiana Department of Health is currently providing leadership and support for the initiative.
Dr. Rebekah Gee, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Health, said that having three pharmaceutical companies submit a response means the State is one giant step closer to its goal of eliminating hepatitis C in Louisiana.
Because of the commitment of this administration, Louisiana now has an eligibility and enrollment system that is more robust than what had been in place for decades. The new system runs more frequent checks on information that drives eligibility decisions, including employment status and income. This means that as the economy improves and people's income increases, Medicaid is alerted and cases are closed, as appropriate.
February is American Heart Health Month and an important time to highlight the importance of efforts to improve heart health in Louisiana. Over the past year, the Louisiana Department of Health’s Well-Ahead Louisiana initiative within the Office of Public Health, in collaboration with other partners across the state, received technical assistance and guidance through a grant from the National Governors Association (NGA) to focus on improving heart health in Louisiana.
