Louisiana Department of Health joins World HIV/AIDS Day events
This week, health and community organizations around the state will join with the Louisiana Department of Health to shed light on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Louisiana as part of NOLA HIV/AIDS Awareness Week and World AIDS Day. Events will be held from November 30 through December 1 throughout the state to make an effort to remove the stigma surrounding these diseases and to slow the epidemic in Louisiana by sharing education about resources for testing and treatment.

Medicaid Forecast Reports SFY 2017/2018
The Department of Health submits a detailed monthly report to the Legislature that provides a comprehensive overview of Medicaid spending. The reports include projections for future revenues and expenditures for the given state fiscal year.

Effective this week, and after more than three years of planning, development, and testing the Louisiana Department of Health has launched a new automated system for Medicaid eligibility and enrollment. November 2018 Final Rules
The Louisiana Department of Health, Bureau of Health Services Financing has submitted Final Rules to the Office of the State Register for publication in the November 20, 2018 edition of the Louisiana Register in accordance with the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act, R.S. 49:950 et seq.

Abortion Facilities – Licensing Standards LAC 48:I.4431
Continues the provisions of the December 3, 2016 Emergency Rule which amended the provisions governing outpatient abortion clinics in order to comply with the provisions of Acts 97, 563 and 593 of the 2016 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature which increased the time period for pre-operative services, mandated the distribution of printed information about services for pregnant women, and established provisions for the disposal of fetal remains.

Nursing Facilities - Reimbursement Methodology - Transition of Private Facilities to State-Owned or Operated Facilities Through Change of Ownership LAC 50:II.20023 and 20024
Continues the provisions of the July 5, 2018 Emergency Rule which amended the provisions governing the reimbursement methodology for nursing facilities in order to adopt provisions governing the transition of a private nursing facility to a state-owned or operated nursing facility through a change of ownership.

Amends the provisions governing the reimbursement methodology for nursing facilities in order to align the case-mix index threshold percentage for nursing facility rate setting with the national threshold percentage.

Managed Care Organization Payment Accountability and Provider Credentialing LAC 50.I.1501
Adopts provisions which: 1) require managed care organizations (MCOs) participating in the Medical Assistance Program to ensure that providers contracted or enrolled with the MCO comply with all Medicaid provider enrollment, credentialing and accreditation requirements; and 2) establish a process and timeline for affected providers to request departmental review of MCO-identified credentialing deficiencies.
