Continues the provisions of the March 5, 2015 Emergency Rule which repealed the provisions governing disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments for Mental Health Emergency Room Extensions in order to eliminate these DSH payments.
Continues the provisions of the July 1, 2015 Emergency Rule which amended the provisions governing school-based nursing services covered in the EPSDT Program to remove the IEP requirement.
Amends the provisions governing the Facility Need Review (FNR) program in order to provide exceptions pertaining to the expiration of FNR approvals for beds that are de-licensed and decertified when facilities undergo major alterations.
DHH Secretary Dr. Rebekah Gee today urged mothers across Louisiana to live healthily and to ensure that they get regular health checks, including annual mammograms and other cancer screenings when appropriate. Gee, a mother of five, cited the loss of her own mother as one reason why she makes sure to always get her own annual physicals and has begun to get an annual mammogram.
Officials with the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals have developed a plan to protect the public should an outbreak of Zika virus occur in the state. The multi-part plan is designed to reduce mosquito populations and mobilize against transmission of Zika virus if an outbreak does occur.
BATON ROUGE – Today, Governor John Bel Edwards and Dr. Rebekah Gee, Secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, began a statewide tour to discuss Medicaid expansion in Louisiana. Gov. Edwards and Dr. Gee also announced that the Bayou Health program is being renamed Healthy Louisiana. The new program seeks to improve the health of those who are currently covered by Medicaid and those who will become eligible for coverage under Medicaid expansion. Gov. Edwards and Dr. Gee also unveiled a new website, www.healthy.la.gov, for enrollment information for qualified individuals.
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, in collaboration with hundreds of local governments and community organizations, has released the Louisiana State Health Assessment and State Health Improvement Plan. The State Health Assessment presents an analysis of the health needs and priorities facing every region of the state, detailing the strengths and weaknesses of each community as well as the opportunities and challenges facing them.
Baton Rouge, La. – DHH Secretary Dr. Rebekah Gee has encouraged all DHH employees to participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day, which Louisiana is celebrating Friday, April 29 per a proclamation from Governor John Bel Edwards. The annual observance creates an opportunity for children to learn more about their parents' jobs and how education is important to success in the workplace.
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals is encouraging enrollees of two of its Medicaid programs to update any out-of-date addresses to ensure their transition to full coverage benefits under expanded Medicaid when those services go live on July 1. Enrollees of the Take Charge Plus and Greater New Orleans Community Health Connection programs do not need to apply to enroll in the expanded Medicaid program and be eligible for full benefits, but address information must be current.
