The Cameron Parish Health Unit has Reopened
Two years after suffering extensive damage and being shut down following Hurricane Ike, the Cameron Parish Health Unit is back in business. This morning the facility reopened at its original location, 107 Recreation Center Lane in Cameron.

Three New Confirmed Cases of West Nile Virus
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed three new human cases of West Nile Virus, bringing this year’s total to 12. The three new cases come from East Baton Rouge Parish. These cases are reported in DHH’s weekly Louisiana Arbovirus Surveillance Summary which can be found in the Surveillance Reports Section of the DHH Web site here.

DHH Interim Secretary Issues Statement on Death of Long-time State Pharmacist
Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals Interim Secretary Tony Keck issued the following statement on the death of long-time State Pharmacist Phil McCrory, who passed away at his home Wednesday night after a battle with cancer. McCrory was the first pharmacist to be hired by the Louisiana Office of Public Health (OPH) and served as the Director of OPH Pharmacy for 34 years until his retirement Aug. 13.

Beach Water Quality Advisories Lifted For Cameron and Jefferson Parishes
The swim advisories issued for the water at one area of Holly Beach in Cameron Parish and one area of Grand Isle State Park Beach in Jefferson Parish have been lifted. Swim advisories that remain in effect are for Cypremort Point Beach in St. Mary Parish; one area of Grand Isle State Park Beach in Jefferson Parish; and Constance and Gulf Breeze beaches as well as one area of Holly Beach in Cameron Parish.
