Three hundred and sixty-one oil spill exposure-related cases have been reported to the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) since April 18, 2010, according to its tenth surveillance report released today. Two hundred and seventy-seven of those cases involved workers on oil rigs or workers involved in the oil spill clean-up efforts, while 84 were reported by the general public.
The role of the Office of Public Health's Adolescent School Health Program is to provide technical assistance to School Based Health Centers (SBHCs); establish and monitor compliance with standards, policies, and guidelines for school health center operation; provide financial assistance; and encourage collaboration with other agencies and other potential funding sources.
The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has confirmed three new human cases of West Nile Virus, bringing this year’s total to six. The three new cases come from East Baton Rouge, Red River and Ascension parishes.
