  Clinics Statewide to Offer Free Blood Pressure Screening, Stroke Education, Medicaid Enrollment Opportunities

  During the week of May 18-22, community health centers throughout the state will be offering free blood pressure testing and stroke education in recognition of American Stroke Month and High Blood Pressure Education Month. This initiative on behalf of the Department of Health and Hospitals, in partnership with the Louisiana Primary Care Association, is an effort to educate Louisiana residents about the importance of controlling blood pressure and associated risk factors for stroke.

  BATON ROUGE–The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals will no longer be sending out daily announcements on new confirmed or probable swine flu cases. However, the Department will continue to update the confirmed case counts on its Web site, http://www.flula.com, daily.

  BATON ROUGE— Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals officials announced today that 11 more of the state’s probable cases of H1N1 influenza (swine flu) have been confirmed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

  BATON ROUGE—In accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has changed its guidance for health care providers and the public on who should see a doctor, get tested and receive treatment for H1N1 influenza (swine flu).

  State Officials Announce Seven More Suspected H1N1 Flu Cases in La.

  BATON ROUGE— DHH officials are now investigating seven new suspected cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus, including five cases in Lafayette Parish, one case in Ascension Parish, and one in St. Landry Parish. This brings the total number of suspected cases currently under investigation in Louisiana to 34. None of the 34 cases are in the hospital.

  State Officials Announce Six More Suspected H1N1 Flu Cases Identified in La.

  BATON ROUGE— State officials are now investigating six new suspected cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus, including three cases in Lafourche Parish, one case in Lafayette Parish, one in Iberia Parish and one in St. Martin Parish. This brings the total number of suspected cases currently under investigation in Louisiana to 27. None of the 27 cases are in the hospital.

  Governor Jindal and State Officials Announce Five More Suspected H1N1 Flu Cases Identified in Lafayette, Ascension Parishes

  BATON ROUGE - Governor Bobby Jindal announced that state officials are now investigating four new suspected cases of H1N1 flu (swine flu) in Lafayette Parish and one new case in Ascension Parish, bringing the total number of suspected cases currently under investigation in Louisiana to 21.

  BATON ROUGE - State officials received official confirmation today from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that, of the nine cases originally submitted for confirmation, seven have been confirmed for the H1N1 flu (swine flu) virus. Two of the submitted tests are negative.

(May 2, 2009) - Today, state officials announced that the Department of Health and Hospitals is investigating ten new suspected cases of the H1N1 (swine flu) virus in Beauregard, Lafayette and Orleans parishes, bringing the total number of suspected cases currently under investigation to 19.
