Baton Rouge – Five months after Hurricane Katrina, staff at the Find Family National Call Center still receive new reports of relatives or loved ones missing almost daily. Over the past week alone, more than 80 people have called to report a missing person, taking the time to complete the lengthy Victim Identification Packet.

Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,103 bodies. This is an increase from 1,100 recovered bodies reported on Jan. 11, 2006.
ANSER Analytic Services, Inc., a public-service research institute, was recently assigned by the federal government to evaluate the operations at the Find Family National Call Center. The Call Center is the national collection point for information on missing family members or those who may have perished during Hurricane Katrina.
Louisiana experienced more West Nile virus cases in 2005 than it did in 2003 or 2004, but not because of hurricanes.
Statistics provided by the Find Family National Call Center continue to show that thousands of Louisiana citizens have been reported missing since Hurricanes Katrina.
