Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb
A meeting was held on March 24, 2023 at the Choctaw Apache Tribal Office. Attending were Sabine Parish Sheriff Office, Office of teh Sabine Parish District Attorney, City Council members and members of the Choctaw-Apache Tribe of Ebarb to discuss All-Hazards training, especially as it pertains to Active Shooters.
Discussions was held about school, church and tribal training. Each group had a majority of tribal members in attendance. The Sabine Sherrif's has held trainings with school personell throughout the parish. They conducted drills with the students and provided lecutres. Religious gatherings are different because of the congregations. It was decided to contact the different churches in the Ebarb Tribal community and ask about training of ushers as the Church Security Team. The Choctaw Apache Tribal Council and Pow Wow Committee will hold trainings that will be led by Sabine parish sherrif's office and help with security at our pow wows. A plan of action was also discussed so the Sheriff’s Department can identify key people if called to the pow wow. Also there will be a presence of deputies at events of the tribe. Sherrif's office says the training is called, "Keeping You Real Program" and "AIS Program."

The Choctaw-Apache met with Sabine parish school offficals to about covid-19 awareness and precautions that can be taken to prevent the spread of covid-19. Meetings resulted in a thre-step plan:
- Establish and maintain contact with the Sabine Parish School board to determone the best way to dessiminate important covid information to the schools.
- Correspond with school principals directly to coordinate a plan for covid-19 awareness and offer organizing assistance.
- Offer covid-19 information on the Tribe's website so tribal membes can remain alert to the effect covid-19 can have on communities and individuals.
Choctaw Apache Chief and Tribal Council met with SE Louisiana Area Health Education Center (AHEC) regading available such as Breathe Easier and Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Rapid Rehousing (RHH) Project. The successes of this partnership is that the Choctaw Apache Tribe of Ebarb now has a contact to programs that will help its tribal community. The Community Health Worker from AHEC will be an advocate for the tribal community by serving those who are often over looked. She will ensure that tribal members are connected to needed services, promote healthy lifestyles with adequate nutrition, routine physical activity and stress management techniques. She will work with Tribal council members Amelia Rivers and Ione Durr to incorporate a plan of action that will best help the tribal community.
