Uterine Fibroids Commission Nominations
The Louisiana Department of Health’s (LDH) Office on Women’s Health and Community Health is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the Uterine Fibroids Commission, established by Act No. 205 of the 2025 Regular Legislative Session (House Bill No. 525).
Background
The Uterine Fibroids Commission was established to evaluate and support efforts to prevent, treat, and improve outcomes for individuals affected by uterine fibroids and related conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis. The commission’s mission includes:
- Supporting collaboration among stakeholders;
- Advising the Governor and LDH on policy matters;
- Reviewing and recommending improvements to state regulations and programs;
- Conducting public hearings and collecting community input;
- Promoting research and public health initiatives addressing these conditions.
The commission will be domiciled in Baton Rouge and will meet quarterly.
Request for Nominees
As outlined in the statute, two individuals who live with uterine fibroids, polycystic ovarian syndrome, or endometriosis are needed to serve on the commission. Individuals from the public are invited to submit this form online for consideration by the Governor for appointment to the commission. The nomination form must be submitted by midnight on July 25, 2025, with required items identified below. Please be ready to submit:

- The nominee’s State Senate District of Residence
