Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,103 bodies. This is an increase from 1,100 recovered bodies reported on Jan. 11, 2006.

910 – Total bodies examined at the morgue
652 – Released to Families
131 – Ready to be released; attempting to locate family members
3 – Identified; not ready for release
124 – Identity unknown (decreased from 129 on 1/11/2006)

Released Bodies – On Jan. 11, LDH reported 622 bodies had been released to families. Today, that number has been updated to 652 released bodies
629 – Storm-related deaths (see attachment.)
23 – Medical examiner cases not storm-related

Race: African-American - 326 bodies (52% of total); Asian-Pacific – 3 (<1%); Caucasian – 282 bodies (45%); Hispanic – 15 (2%); Native American – 2 (<1%); Other – 1 (< 1%.)
