The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals will be holding two public meetings to discuss RS 56:437 and RS 40:5.3.1, which govern the sale of oysters for raw consumption within the state, as they pertain to the oyster industry. State Health Officer, Dr. Jimmy Guidry, will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.

Greenstein issued the following statement in regard to a joint announcement from Louisiana Hospital Association, Metropolitan Hospital Council of New Orleans and Louisiana State Medical Society that these organizations support the state’s proposal to implement Coordinated Care Networks in Medicaid.

BATON ROUGE – The Department of Health and Hospitals learned late Monday that the state will have to repay $239.5 million to the federal government for overpayments the agency made to fund LSU hospitals between 1996 and 2007.
