Baton Rouge – The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals announces that Med Job Louisiana, the state’s free physician recruitment program, has expanded services to act as the primary source for health care providers affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Baton Rouge – The Department of Health and Hospitals would like to remind citizens that although the outbreak of infectious diseases may be a frightening prospect, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, widespread outbreaks of infectious disease after hurricanes are not common in the United States. Outbreaks of rare and deadly diseases do not suddenly occur after hurricanes and floods in areas where such diseases do not naturally occur.
Families and friends seeking information on patients and staff evacuated from New Orleans-area hospitals need to call the Louisiana Hospital Association at 225-928-0026 or go online www.lhaonline.org to submit an inquiry regarding a patient evacuated from a facility during the hurricane.
Baton Rouge – All Florida Parishes Human Services Authority employees, which includes Mental Health Services, Addictive Disorders Services and Developmental Disabilities Services, are required to report to Rosenblum Mental Health Center in Hammond, La. at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005.

The Department of Health and Hospitals -- Medicaid Program is seeking licensed physicians to contract with the program on a short-term basis.

The Department of Health and Hospitals is offering no cost birth cards (small versions of birth certificates) to evacuees and their children. Birth cards can be obtained from parish health units in the following regions: East Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Alexandria, Shreveport and Monroe.
