Louisiana is ranked first in opioid prescribing of all 50 states. The Louisiana Department of Health continues to work with partners throughout the state to address the opioid epidemic and develop potential solutions.
The Louisiana Medicaid Expansion program has reached a new milestone. To date, more than 326,000 new members have enrolled in Louisiana Medicaid Expansion and over 24,000 of those members have received preventative care visits with a provider.
In an effort to help Louisiana Medicaid practitioners adopt electronic health records (EHR), the Louisiana Department of Health will host an EHR vendor and clearinghouse vendor fair Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 118 of the Bienville building located at 628 North 4th Street in downtown Baton Rouge.

Amends the provisions of the May 20, 2008 Rule governing the reimbursement methodology for nursing facilities to amend the provisions governing evacuation and temporary sheltering costs in order to ensure that an evacuating nursing facility continues to receive vendor payments while providing essential care and services to residents at a host site when they are displaced.
Amends the provisions of the October 1, 2016 Emergency Rule governing Disproportionate Share Hospital Payments which amended the provisions of the June 20, 2016 Emergency Rule which clarified the provisions governing the payment methodology to Louisiana low-income academic hospitals in order to revise the reimbursement schedule for the payments.
Amends the provisions governing intermediate care facilities for persons with intellectual disabilities to establish provisions governing evacuation and temporary sheltering costs during a declared disaster or emergency event.
Amends the provisions of the June 20, 2016 Emergency Rule governing Disproportionate Share Hospital Payments which amended the provisions of the September 20, 2014 Emergency Rule which clarified the provisions governing the payment methodology to Louisiana low-income academic hospitals in order to accommodate Medicaid expansion in order to revise the reimbursement schedule for the payments.
Continues the provisions of the June 30, 2016 Emergency Rule which adopted provisions to establish a qualification criteria and DSH payment methodology for major medical centers located in the central and northern areas of Louisiana.
