Medication Attendant Certified (MAC)
The Medication Attendant Certified (MAC) is a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), who has received additional training in designated medication preparation and administration. The primary role of the MAC is administering medications, and he/ she will not have a patient care assignment which conflicts or distracts from his/ her primary role. The MAC's role is completely dependent upon the delegation from a licensed nurse. The MAC cannot function without delegation from the licensed nurse. MACs work in Licensed Long-Term Care Facilities (LLCF) which are Nursing Homes and Adult Residential Care Providers.
