National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day

A young person with short, dark hair wearing an orange t-shirt, sitting on a yellow couch is facing a person with long curly hair, who is partially out of frame on the right, holding a clipboard, suggesting a consultation setting. In the background, there is a bookshelf filled with various books. The image has multiple text overlays about National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day. The text is set against colored blocks in teal and navy blue.

During #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth, we’re shining a light on the behavioral health services available through all Louisiana Medicaid plans for eligible children under age 21. Mental health challenges can significantly impact children’s ability to learn and develop.

These services include different therapy treatment options and individual, family and group counseling.

Coordinated System of Care (CSoC) offers services and supports to children with serious mental health and substance use challenges who are in or at-risk of out-of-home placement.

Below this, smaller text attributes the statistic to the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), 2023. The Louisiana Medicaid logo is at the bottom left. On the right side, a cartoon illustration depicts a doctor in a white coat with a stethoscope taking a woman's blood pressure.
At the top, in large white text, it reads "MANAGE BLOOD PRESSURE." Below this, there are four dark blue rectangular blocks each containing white text with health tips: "Manage stress regularly," "Limit or avoid alcohol," "Take medications as prescribed," and "Eat a well-balanced, heart-healthy diet." National Fentanyl Awareness Day

Infographic stating between 2022 and 2024 Louisiana experienced a 45.8% decrease in opioid involved deaths and a 46% decrease in synthetics opioid (fentanyl) deaths).

Opiod and synthetic opiods like fentanyl are highly addictive and can be deadly. Protect yourself and your loved ones by knowing how to prevent an overdose.

Naloxone, also known by the brand name Narcan®, is a prescription medicine that can be used on someone for the treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose.  In Louisiana, naloxone is available to anyone without a prescription at local pharmacies.
