Sen. Jay Dardenne announced today the legislative delegation from the Baton Rouge region has chosen its health care consortium members. Fifty members have been chosen for this group, which services a seven-parish region (East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville and Ascension parishes).

The first meeting of the Region 2 Louisiana Health Care Consortium will be held Monday, Oct. 4, in the Senate Briefing Room at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.

The meeting agenda includes election of a chairperson and other officers, and a presentation on the Governor’s Health Care Reform Panel and Regional Consortium, the roles and responsibilities of the consortium, other organizational business and scheduling of future meetings.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting and offer comment.

“We are very pleased with the enthusiasm we have seen from citizens of this area so far, and we hope many will attend the consortium meeting,” Sen. Dardenne said. “Citizen input will be an integral part of our efforts to reform health care in Louisiana.”
