Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,101 bodies. This is an increase from 1,100 recovered bodies reported on Jan. 4, 2006.

908 – Total bodies examined at the morgue
622 – Released to Families
154 – Ready to be released; attempting to locate family members
3 – Identified; not ready for release
129 – Identity unknown (decreased from 162 on 1/4/2006.)

Released Bodies – On Jan. 4, LDH reported 601 bodies had been released to families. Today, that number has been updated to 622 released bodies.599 – Storm-related deaths (see attachment.)
