August 03, 2023 Northeast Louisiana Office of Public Health to highlight immunizations at End of Summer Bash

Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Aug 03, 2023 - In recognition of August as National Immunization Month, the Region 8 (Northeast Louisiana) Office of Public Health (OPH) will host an End of Summer Bash featuring routine back-to-school immunizations. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 5 at Ouachita Parish Health Unit (PHU), 1650 DeSiard St., Monroe, and is free to attend.

"While preparing for the new school year, it’s also important to make sure your children are protected against vaccine-preventable diseases. We are reminding all parents to check with your pediatrician to make sure your kids are up to date on their vaccinations before the first day of school," said Region 8 Medical Director Dr. Tonya Hunter.

The End of Summer Bash will also feature COVID-19 and mpox vaccinations and information, access to personal immunization records, STI testing, a car seat safety booth, information on health topics and health unit services, a cooling station, refreshments and more. Community members will have the opportunity to learn more about OPH Region 8 and meet regional leadership and staff.
