LDH is moving forward with a plan to distribute food benefits on EBT cards. If the USDA, who administers the SNAP program, is prepared and ready to move money into states’ accounts, we will use federal dollars to fund SNAP recipients’ accounts. If they are not ready, LDH will proceed with our state-funded program to provide food assistance to the elderly, the disabled, and households with children through their existing EBT cards.
August 31, 2024 Orleans Parish Health Unit services relocate due to temporary closure
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, - The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Office of Public Health (OPH) is temporarily closing Orleans Parish Health Unit-Delgado and Wetmore Clinic located at 1676 Gravier St. The closure was effective Monday, August 26.
These relocations are necessary to enhance the Region 1 (Greater New Orleans) Office of Public Health's physical footprint in Orleans Parish.
Residents in need of health services typically received from Orleans Parish Health Unit (PHU) and Wetmore Clinic can visit other Region 1 locations listed here.
In response to this closure, Jefferson Parish Health Unit-Metairie (111 N. Causeway Blvd.) and Jefferson Parish Health Unit-Marrero (1855 Ames Blvd.) are expanding their hours to meet the needs of residents. Both parish health units will now be open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Wetmore Clinic services, including tuberculosis and refugee healthcare, will be available only at Jefferson PHU in Marrero.
WIC services are available Wednesday to Friday at Jefferson PHU in Marrero and Monday through Friday at Jefferson PHU in Metairie.
