BATON ROUGE, Oct 31, 2005 - Updated Number of Deceased Victims Recovered Following Hurricane Katrina

Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,067 bodies. This is an increase from 1,062 recovered bodies reported on Oct. 27, 2005.
 

St. Gabriel Morgue Facility Totals:
874 – Total bodies examined at the morgue

197 – Released to Families

677 – Remain at the morgue

Released Bodies – Last week, LDH reported 197 bodies had been released to families.
185 – Storm-related deaths

 12 – Medical examiner cases; not storm-related
