October 21, 2005 Donated Mosquito Repellant Distributed At Parish Health Units

Baton Rouge --- Beginning Monday, Oct. 24, the Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health will be distributing free 6 oz. bottles of Off! Skintastik IV mosquito repellant at parish health units in the areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
The SC Johnson company worked with representatives of LDH/OPH Center for Environmental Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on this donation of more than 800 cases of free DEET repellant in order to prevent mosquito-borne illnesses such as West Nile virus as citizens return to their homes and encounter mosquito activity.
Repellant will be given away at the health units in South Louisiana, including the parishes of Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Evangeline, Iberia, Iberville, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Lafourche, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Vermillion and Washington parishes.
These 6 oz. bottles of repellant will be distributed to residents on a first-come, first-serve basis.
