Secure .gov websites use HTTPS LDH is moving forward with a plan to distribute food benefits on EBT cards. If the USDA, who administers the SNAP program, is prepared and ready to move money into states’ accounts, we will use federal dollars to fund SNAP recipients’ accounts. If they are not ready, LDH will proceed with our state-funded program to provide food assistance to the elderly, the disabled, and households with children through their existing EBT cards.

LDH reports 8 additional Omicron variant cases in Louisiana
This brings the total number of Omicron cases in our state to 45 - 40 probable and 5 confirmed. The first confirmed Omicron case in Louisiana was identified on December 3.

Following updated CDC guidance, Pfizer booster shots now available for 16- and 17-year-olds in Louisiana

Shot For $100 vaccine incentive extended through December 31
Louisiana residents now have until December 31, 2021 to get their vaccine at a participating community-based site as listed on ShotFor100.com. As of November 29, more than 34,300 debit cards have been distributed through Shot For 100.

People who are vaccinated and eligible for a booster need to use this time to get their boosters. Those who are not vaccinated should get vaccinated.

Louisiana Department of Health to Offer Free COVID-19 Vaccines at Bayou Classic Events
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is partnering with the Bayou Classic and the National Medical Association to offer free COVID-19 vaccines at Bayou Classic events this Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27. Adults and children getting their first shots will receive a $100 Shot for 100 debit card.

CDC, LDH recommend Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for all children ages 5-11
All Louisiana children ages 5 to 11 are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) formal recommendation on Tuesday evening. Prior to this announcement, the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) vaccine was recommended and authorized for people ages 12 and older.
