LDH is moving forward with a plan to distribute food benefits on EBT cards. If the USDA, who administers the SNAP program, is prepared and ready to move money into states’ accounts, we will use federal dollars to fund SNAP recipients’ accounts. If they are not ready, LDH will proceed with our state-funded program to provide food assistance to the elderly, the disabled, and households with children through their existing EBT cards.

New COVID-19 Vaccine Serious Adverse Event Reporting Requirements
COVID-19 vaccination providers should immediately (24/7) report severe COVID-19 vaccine reactions requiring hospitalization to the Office of Public Health (OPH) at 800-256-2748. Staff are available 24/7 to take information. There have not yet been any such events reported to OPH.

Updated CDC Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit with New COVID-19 Vaccine Information
The Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit has been updated with a COVID-19 Vaccine Addendum with information on Storage and Handling best practices for COVID-19 vaccines. All vaccination providers participating in the COVID-19 Vaccination Program must store and handle COVID-19 vaccines under proper conditions to maintain the cold chain as outlined in the toolkit and addendum. This addendum will be updated with specific storage and handling information for each COVID-10 product.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our everyday lives and the ways we interact and go about “normal” activity, the promotion of wellness visits and staying up to date with vaccines continues to be of the utmost importance. Building upon the information from the first publication of the “Back to the Office Campaign,” the Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (LA AAP) and the Louisiana Vaccine Alliance have created this “Part 2” publication with additional images, scripts, and suggestions.
