Mpox
CDC is closely tracking cases of mpox recently detected in the United States. As part of this 2022 U.S. Mpox Outbreak, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) identified its first case of mpox in a Louisiana resident on July 7, 2022.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) Office of Public Health (OPH) Region 1 serves the southeast portion of the state in 4 parishes: Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard.

Access Matters: Instagram Reels Contest for Region 1
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), Office of Public Health (OPH) for Region 1 is launching an Instagram reels contest open to high school students in the region. Students who attend high school in Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard parishes are invited to enter for a chance to win a fall entertainment package including a Bluetooth speaker, wireless headphones and a stainless steeel water bottle. Contest participants are asked to create an Instagram reel between 15 and 60 seconds in length on the topic of access to healthy foods. Participants must enter using the registration from below and all reels must be tagged with #AccessMattersOPH1. Contest runs from September 23 to October 31.
The Access Matters Instagram Reels contests asks students to think about the broad picture of food access for themselves and their community.
Answer questions like these and more in an Instagram reel for a chance to win Bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones, and stainless steeel water bottles. The top three reels will be selected by a committee of Office of Public Health Region 1 staff and awarded prizes.
The contest opens on Monday September 23, and closes on Thursday, October 31 at 11:59 pm.
