STATE OFFICE CLOSURE - INCLEMENT WEATHER
Commissioner of Administration Taylor Barras is announcing that all state offices in Cameron Parish will be closed Wednesday, June 17, 2026 and Thursday, June 18, 2026, due to the impending tropical storm.
All agency heads are responsible for determining those essential personnel who should remain on duty, report for duty, or those who should report to alternate work sites as necessary. Officials continue to monitor conditions throughout the state, and this announcement may be updated.
This office closure applies to all nonessential employees, including those authorized to work from home.
If you qualify for free vaccines, they are available at Parish Health Units and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). The day of the week that immunizations are available varies by each clinic. Please contact the clinic nearest you for the most updated information. Appointments are available, but walk-ins are welcome.
Through the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program, federally purchased vaccine is available at no cost to enrolled public and private health care providers for eligible children. VFC helps provide vaccines to children whose parents or guardians may not be able to afford them. This helps ensure that all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule. Below are the eligibility criteria for receiving VFC vaccines:
Children through 18 years of age that meet at least one of the following criteria are eligible for VFC: Medicaid Eligible, Uninsured, American Indian or Alaskan Native - as defined by the Indian Health Services Act.
Underinsured children are eligible to receive vaccine only if they are served by a Federally Qualified Health Center, Rural Health Clinic or Office of Public Health, Parish Health Unit. (Underinsured - a child whose health insurance benefit plan does not include vaccinations.)
Children whose health insurance covers the cost of vaccinations are not eligible for VFC program benefits, even when a claim for the cost of the vaccine and its administration would be denied, if submitted to the insurance carrier for payment, because the plan's deductible had not been met.
