Nurse Aide Training Programs

Nurse Aide Training Programs (NATPs) are responsible for the training of individuals employed in Long Term Care Facilities (nursing homes) or Hospital-based Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF units).

Competency Evaluation Programs (CEPs) are responsible for ensuring individuals who have trained at an approved NATP have met the minimum federal and state training requirements.

Once the individual successfully completes both portions of the minimum Competency Evaluation (examination), the CEP certifies the individual to the Louisiana Nurse Aide Registry.

The LDH-HSS (LA Department of Health-Health Standards Section) is responsible for the approval, disapproval, and periodic review (survey) of NATPs and CEPs for the state of Louisiana. Any person or entity that wishes to offer a NATP or CEP in the state of LA must receive approval from the LDH-HSS.
