Restore Louisiana

Were you or someone you know affected by the 2016 floods? The Restore Louisiana Homeowner Assistance Program is dedicated to helping homeowners affected by the March and/or August 2016 floods repair and restore their damaged homes, or get reimbursed for work already completed. In order to qualify for the program, you must complete a quick survey.

St. Joseph Water

Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a Public Health Emergency for the Town of St. Joseph in North Louisiana. Residents are advised to use an alternative source for drinking water. On Dec. 15, 2016 test results conducted by the Office of Public Health showed elevated levels of lead in two samples – a private residence and the Town Hall. Also, there were two other sites with elevated levels of copper – both were private residences.

Zika Information and Resources

Zika virus disease is caused by the Zika virus, which is spread to people primarily through the bite of an infected mosquito (Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting up to a week, and many people do not have symptoms or will have only mild symptoms. However, Zika virus infection during pregnancy can cause a serious birth defect called microcephaly and other severe brain defects. There has not been any local transmission of Zika in Louisiana to date.
