As flu season approaches, the Department of Health and Hospitals is kicking off an influenza educational campaign aimed at getting more health care workers vaccinated against this serious and potentially fatal illness.
Each year, millions of individuals get the flu. While many are ill for about a week and view the flu as nothing more than an inconvenience, there are many populations for whom the flu can be deadly.
Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,074 bodies. This is an increase from 1,070 recovered bodies reported on Nov. 4, 2005.

The Department of Health and Hospitals has announced the reopening of the final oyster harvest area that was closed on Tuesday, Aug. 30 because of Hurricane Katrina. This marks the reopening of all oyster harvest areas in Louisiana.
Recovered Bodies – At this time, state officials, working in conjunction with coroners from local parishes, have recovered 1,067 bodies. This is an increase from 1,062 recovered bodies reported on Oct. 27, 2005.
