Providing care to the uninsured in Louisiana will be the main topic of discussion at the third quarterly meeting of the Governor’s Health Care Reform Panel. The meeting will take place on Thursday, Dec. 16 at the New Orleans Marriott Hotel, 555 Canal St., New Orleans.
Baton Rouge --- Louisiana officials learned today that the state continues to trail other states in overall health status. The news comes from the United Health Foundation in its 15th annual “America’s Health: State Health Rankings.” But, despite the low ranking, the report outlines progress made by the state in providing access to adequate prenatal care.
A group of Baton Rouge-area health care providers has received a federal Healthy Communities Access Program (HCAP) grant to expand primary care treatment for the uninsured through an improved computer tracking system.

Sen. Diana Bajoie announced today the legislative delegation from the metropolitan New Orleans area has chosen its health care consortium members. Fifty-four members, representing the parishes of Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines and St. Bernard have been chosen for this group.

Fifty members have been chosen for this group, which services a seven-parish region (East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Iberville and Ascension parishes).
