Grand Isle State Park Swimming Advisory Rescinded
The Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health has rescinded the swimming advisory for the remainder of the beach areas at Grand Isle State Park. The decision was made after water samples taken over the past several weeks showed the area’s water quality has improved sufficiently to meet Louisiana’s BEACH program bacteriological water quality compliance standards.

The Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health reminds parents that children can receive free vaccines this weekend. Since school begins next week for many parishes, the DHH/OPH Shots for Tots program, a no-cost immunization effort is taking place statewide so children can return to the classroom up-to-date on the necessary vaccines.

Noting that, “of the Louisiana children who qualify for the Louisiana Children’s Health Insurance Progam, 77,500 are still uninsured,” Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco has declared August LaCHIP Month for the State of Louisiana.
